The Neighborhood (Who We Are)
Established on April 5, 1909, when the
Hall Realty Company and South Side
Land Corporation combined unused land
with land from the Joseph P. Hall estate
and divided it in to parcels. We are home
to the Henry Riddick (Secessionist)home
c.1830 which later became the Joseph P.
Hall Home about 1870. We are also
home to the Gentile House, owned by
the parents of Anthony Gentile, who
during his childhood (1916), won a
drawing contest to create a figure for a
small peanut company...his stick drawing
is one of the most well known world
wide icon's "Mr. Peanut"
Hall Place rests on the western side of the Planters Peanut Factory, and many of the first factory
workers built their homes, which still survive, in Hall Place!
THINKING OF MOVING TO HALL PLACE: The Hall Place neighborhood is a family oriented community, that prides itself
in working together to fight and prevent crime. We want to keep our neighborhood a safe and fun place to live. We
welcome all new neighbors and their ideas and visions for the neighborhood. We are a thriving community that has
been around for nearly 100 years, and look forward to making it another 100. We are made up of a variety of beautiful
distinctive homes, and we want to retain that "one of a kind" character.
The Hall Place Civic League, Inc. members support Federal, and State historical designation of the Hall Place
Neighborhood. By going Historical on the State, & Federal level the Hall Place property owners will have a choice of free
Grants, and tax relief for the improvements to our property, but ONLY if WE chose to make improvements and apply for
the grants or tax relief. Please support the Hall Place Civic League, Inc. and it's members as we try to preserve our
beautiful historic neighborhood.
